Daffy's on Route 10 Closes Doors
East Hanover business is among nearly 20 other locations that closed recently.

The Daffy's retail discount store on Route 10 in East Hanover closed on Saturday. The store is one of the 19 locations that was shut down as the company goes out of business.
According to a report on Bloomberg.com, the Secaucus-based company began losing money in 2011, and plans to sell its real estate leases and merchandise to repay creditors.
Vice President of Store Operations Hank Shemmer said Tuesday the store is in bankruptcy and all stores are now officially closed.

The store, which had locations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, had about 1,300 employees who will be affected, according to a report from cbs.com.
"This action was necessary due to the impact on its business of the uncertain economy and weak consumer spending and a lack of viable financial and business alternatives," CBS quoted Daffy’s from a statement sent to the Associated Press.
