The East Hanover Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday night to hire a new superintendent.

Dr. Scott Rubin is expected to receive a four-year contract that starts July 1. Rubin is the current principal of both the Academy for Allied Health Sciences and the Academy for Performing Arts in the Union County Vocational-Technical School District in Scotch Plains. The terms of Rubin's contract were not immediately available.

"Dr. Rubin was chosen from a highly qualified field of candidates following a rigorous selection process that included screening by a Board of Education selection committee, a community selection committee, and individual interviews with the board," according to a message posted on the district's website.

"After a careful review and robust deliberations, the board selected Dr. Rubin to lead the district and offered him a contract for the next four years, beginning on July 1st."
