East Hanover Could Get More State Aid Under Proposed NJ Tax Plan

EAST HANOVER/FLORHAM PARK NJ — East Hanover and Florham Park could receive more state aid under a new plan from state lawmakers to provide property tax cap relief for districts that are facing cuts.

East Hanover could get more than $839,000 in state aid for the 2019-20 academic year, more than $50,000, or a 6.3 percent increase than last year, according to a plan from New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney.

Florham Park could receive $700,000, about $78,000 more, or a 12.5 percent increase, more than last year.

Sweeney said this weekend he will introduce legislation to provide property tax cap relief for districts facing cuts due to a 2 percent tax increase cap championed by former Gov. Chris Christie.
