East Hanover Named to Top 20 NJ Towns
New Jersey Monthly released their rankings for Garden State's 514 towns.

East Hanover just became a better place to live.
In New Jersey Monthy's recent ranking of top New Jersey towns to live in, East Hanover came in at 19 out of 514 municipalities.
The township, according to NJ Monthly's rankings, has a population of 11,306 with a crime rate of 19.2 per 1,000 residents in 2011. The violent crime rate is 0.4 per 1,000 residents in 2011.
Most residents of East Hanover paid $7,481 in property taxes in 2012, which have gone up only 0.2 percent since 2010. The tax rate in the township is 1.381, and the average home costs $455,000.
Florham Park was ranked at number 64 on NJ Monthly's list. According to the rankings, the borough has a population of 11,860 with a crime rate of 7.8 incidents per 1,000 residents in 2011 and a violent crime rate of 0.3 incidents per 1,000 people.
Test scores and the strength of the public school system goes a long way towards making East Hanover and Florham Park great places to live. In 2012, students taking the ASK 4 proficiency exam scored an average of 86 percent. That same year, students taking the ASK 8 exam scored an average of 90 percent. By the time students move up to the HSPA proficiency exam, the average score was 93 percent.
The average property tax in 2012 in Florham Park was $8,724 at a rate of 1.310. The tax change since 2010 is 4.9 percent. The median home sales price in 2012 was $518,000.
