EH Resident Raising Awareness About Organ/Tissue Donation
East Hanover resident, Cindylu Fitzpatrick is raising awareness about the benefits of being an an Organ/Tissue donor at Concerts in the Park

Are you a registered organ donor? Did you "check the box" or say "YES" when you renewed or got your license? Do you know someone that is on the transplant waiting list? East Hanover resident, Cindylu Fitzpatrick is raising awareness about the benefits of being an organ/tissue donor. At each of the East Hanover Summer Concerts in Lurker Park, Cindylu will have a NJ Sharing Network table setup at which she'll be providing information, handing out giveaways and discussing the life-saving benefits of organ and tissue donation. She can even help you register to be an organ/tissue donor if you aren't already - it only takes a few seconds. Please take a moment to stop by and learn more about how you can save and enhance the lives of others by being an organ/tissue donor.
Cindylu is a Certified Volunteer for the NJ Sharing Network (NJSN) and a member of the Morris County Donate Life Group - also known as the Morris County Organ Transplant Group. She became involved with NJSN when her step-son Michael Fitzpatrick passed away in May of 2017. During their darkest hour, Michael's wife and parents made the decision to donate his organs (he was not a registered organ donor). Michael's heart saved another man's life, his corneas gave the gift of sight to another and his skin, bone and other tissue enhanced the lives of several others.
The NJ Sharing Network (NJSN) is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant. Nearly 4,000 New Jersey residents are currently awaiting transplantation. Three of them live here in East Hanover. NJSN is also part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the 115,0000 people on the national waiting list.

The Morris County Donate Life (Organ Transplant) Group is one of several regional NJ Sharing Network support groups. Members of this group live across Morris County. They have had organ or soft tissue transplants, are on the waiting list, are "living donors" having donated an organ such as a kidney or are a "donor family" such as Cindylu who's family member passed away and they gave the gift of life by donating their organs.
