Election Day 2019: Everything East Hanover Needs To Know

EAST HANOVER, NJ — After a long campaign season, Election Day 2019 is finally here in East Hanover and Florham Park.

There is a contested race for mayor in East Hanover. In Florham Park, there is a race for two seats on the borough council.

The first question would allocate $19.8 million in improvements to Briarwood and Brooklake Elementary School, and Ridgedale Middle School. The improvements include:

  • Replacing the roof at Briarwood for $1.2 million
  • Installing an HVAC system in Brooklake classrooms for $2.9 million
  • Installing an HVAC system for $3.6 million and renovating the wellness center and the auditorium at Ridgedale for $2.1 million

The second question would allocate $5 million for various upgrades at Briarwood, Brookdale, and Ridgedale schools, including renovating bathrooms in three schools.

The State of New Jersey will cover approximately 40 percent of the projects' costs, but only if the referendum passes.

If both questions pass, the school portion of local tax bills would increase $13 annually for the owners of the average assessed home of $658,000.

Also in Florham Park, Mark Taylor is running unopposed for mayor.

Republicans Kristen Santoro and William Zuckerman and Democrat Peter Nicolas are running for two spots on the borough council.

There are three uncontested elections occurring.

Joanne Greene Tobias is running a three-year spot on the Hanover Park Regional School Board of Education.

Fabienne Crimi, Yvonne Cali, and Nicholas Ritrivi are running for three spots and Brian Perillo is running for a two-year unexpired term on the Florham Park Board of Education.

In East Hanover, Republican Angelo Tedesco is running against Democrat Joseph Pannullo for mayor.

Democrat Brian Brokaw Sr. is running unopposed for the lone township council seat on the ballot.

Two people are running unopposed for seats on the Hanover Regional District Board of Education: Giuseppe Peluso and Deborah Politi Davis.

Three people are running unopposed for spots on the East Hanover Board of Education: Joseph Troise, Anthony Barisciano, and Catherine Pfund-Olsen.

Where do I vote?
