Flash Fire Injures Florham Park Contractor

No structural damage to Roosevelt Boulevard home following basement blaze.

A contractor working in a Roosevelt Boulvard home was injured when a flash fire broke out in the basement last week, Florham Park Police said.

According to police, there was no structural damage to the home, but the contractor had burns to his left arm and was transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

Police said they received a 911 call last Wednesday at 11:09 a.m. regarding a working basement fire, and once they arrived the residents and contractor were outside and the fire was already extinguished.

According to the police, the acetone ignited the flash fire while the contractor was working on the concrete floor staining.

Both the Florham Park Fire Department and First Aid Squad responded to the scene, police said. The fire department ventilated the house, and the Florham Park Building Department deemed the home safe after finding no structural damage, police said.
