Florham Park Man Dies After ALS Battle

Scott Fleming was active in the Florham Park community.

FLORHAM PARK, NJ — Scott Fleming, a Florham Park resident who lived with ALS, died on Friday.

Fleming was an avid runner before his ALS diagnosis in 2013, and the annual Scott-a-Palooza 5K raised money to offset the family's medical bills. This years race, held shortly before his death, raised over $30,000.

According to an obituary on the Florham Park Eagle, Fleming was a U.S. Marine Corps Reserves veteran who served in Desert Storm. He was active in the Florham Park community, working as a youth soccer coach and as the leader of a local running group.

Fleming is survived by his wife, Melissa, and three children: Brody, Amber and Corinne.

A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Madison, 19 Green Avenue, Madison, NJ on Sunday, October 8th at 2pm. Memorial Service at the Presbyterian Church of Madison at 2:00 PM on October 8, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HARK to befit other families affected by ALS.
