Among the other attendees are Mayor Scott Eveland, who will deliver a proclamation, and several council members who are joining the celebration of the club that has been in the borough since 1962.

Earlier this year, the senior citizens received a letter from Gov. Chris Christie acknowledging the club's history, and on Wednesday Councilwoman Carmen Cefolo-Pane will read the note to the guests.

Throughout the afternoon celebration, there will be swing dancing to '50s and '60s music, and other entertainment.

Callahan said about 180 of the 285 senior members in the club are planning on attending the party.

"I'm just looking forward to everyone having a good time and coming away with the feeling that this is really a special occasion for a special milestone," Callahan said.

Tickets were on sale for $10 for members and $45 for non-members.

In its 50 years, the Senior Citizen's Club has provided and continues to offer a number of recreational activities for the residents of Florham Park from musical programs, to trips and classes.

Some of the upcoming events are movie matinees on Fridays, Bingo on Tuesdays, and exercise classes on Mondays and Thursdays.

The next day trip will be to the Catskills Resort on on Sept. 25 that includes lunch, a musical and bingo.

Wednesday's celebration will provide the seniors with an opportunity to come together and commemorate the group's long-standing impact on the Florham Park community.

"I think people really will be excited after this and I think it's always good for us to get our people out, especially with the opportunity to interact with the community's leaders," Callahan said.
