House Alarm Foils Attempted Burglary

Police still seek information on who may have tried to burgle the home.

A home burglary alarm kept one Florham Park resident from having his home burgled, according to Police Capt. Robert Treiber.

Sgt. Karl Svenningsen of the Florham Park Police responded to a burglar alarm at a Rockwood Road home at about 3:30 p.m. July 16, Treiber said.

Svenningsen found the rear basement bilco doors had signs of damage, which Treiber said were "consistent with someone attempting to force entry."

When the home's resident arrived shortly thereafter, he confirmed to Svenningsen the damage was new.
