Locals Have Shorter Commute than National Average

WYNC put forth this interactive map showing typical commute times by residence.

A commuter from East Hanover and Florham Park spends slightly less time getting to and from work each day than the average commuter across the United States, according to an interactive map of Census data compiled by WNYC.org.

An average commuter from East Hanover spends 23 minutes traveling to and from work, and in Florham Park the commute takes 24.4 minutes. The national average, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is 25.4 minutes.

This statistic puts local residents far out of the Census' category of "mega-commuters," people who spend at least 90 minutes traveling over 50 miles to and from work each day.
