Man Arrested After East Hanover Standoff: PD

Police say the man was wanted for an alleged crime in a nearby town.

EAST HANOVER, NJ — A West Caldwell man was arrested in East Hanover on Thursday following a standoff with police, East Hanover police said.

The man, a 47-year-old, was wanted by police after allegedly committing a crime in West Caldwell Thursday morning, police said. He fled to East Hanover, where he was staying in a home there, police said.

East Hanover police attempted to have someone answer the door of the home, but no one came to the door, they said. Eventually, the Morris County Sheriff's Emergency Response Team and Prosecutor's Office Crisis Negotiation Unit were called in, and the man surrendered.
