FLORHAM PARK, NJ — Cassie Colombrito was a lot of things: a caretaker, a dancer, a soccer player, a friend. And with the birth of her son, Colombrito was a mother, a role she was "born to fill," her family said.

Unfortunately, Colombrito only got to enjoy motherhood for eight short months before she passed away on Friday. She was 26. The family did not release her cause of death.

"We knew from a young age that Cassie had a huge heart and was born to be Mother. Her younger siblings were born when she was only 8 years old and she immediately took on the role of caring for them as if she was their Mom," Colombrito's family wrote in an obituary.

Vincent, Colombrito's son, was "her whole world," her family said. "Within the past year, she gave birth to a handsome baby boy, Vincent. He was her whole world; we couldn’t be more proud of the unconditional love and support she provided for him," the family said.

Before becoming a mother, Colombrito graduated from County College of Morris and worked as a nanny. She was a competitive dancer in high school, and was coached by her dad in youth soccer.

Colombirto was always one to take care of others, and now, her family is asking for help taking care of Vincent.

"Funeral costs are extreme, and the family would never normally do this, but extra help is extremely appreciated. Not only for the funeral itself, but looking towards Vincent’s future as well," her family wrote in a GoFundMe. So far, $1,880 has been raised towards a $30,000 goal.
