Choosing a child care and early childhood education “second home” is an important and consequential decision for parents and children. The teachers and staff at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA understand this decision and its resulting transition and how best to guide children and their parents into an exciting new chapter. With benefits including educational and developmental advancement, countless resources, a dedicated child care and early childhood education campus, and highly skilled and veteran staff, Kirby provides a learning environment unlike any other. Here are the top three reasons to enroll at the Kirby Center this fall.

One: Individualized Learning Plans

Essential cognitive development occurs in the first years of a child’s life. As most physical and developmental changes occur during the beginning years, an introduction to early learning experiences provide key developmental opportunities for children. To optimize each student’s development and foster progression toward new milestones, teachers at the Center establish an individualized learning path which includes building skills needed for future success. Following the Creative Curriculum, teachers prepare educational, unique and engaging lessons that promote socialization and creative learning. Weekly themes encourage students to learn through structured activities while preparing for the next levels of education. By learning cues from their peers, students as young as six weeks begin to build the foundation for educational and social success.

Two: Part of a Larger Community

Recognized for the delivery of its high-quality programs, the Kirby Center is a participant of the Grow NJ Kids program, a state-wide initiative for measuring and implementing ongoing improvements for early childhood education and care. As part of the Madison Area YMCA and through grants and donations from the community, and Grow NJ Kids support, Kirby offers a multitude of resources to keep children engaged and learning throughout the day. Themed books, personal art supplies and spacious classrooms assist in providing a diverse learning experience while four age-appropriate playgrounds ensure children remain active and continue to learn while outdoors. Kirby’s indoor and outdoor areas provide safe spaces for interactive physical, social and educational development.

Three: Highly Trained and Experienced Staff

The passion of the staff at Kirby is evident in how lessons are structured around the interests of the children and the nurturing environment provided each day. The highly trained and experienced classroom teachers at Kirby assist their students in becoming more efficient communicators and ensure elementary school readiness. With many teachers having tenure of more than 10 years at Kirby, the experience they bring to the classrooms is unparalleled. Teachers work with parents to determine developmentally appropriate goals and regular teacher-parent outreach ensures parents are aware of their child’s experiences and educational breakthroughs.

There are many things to consider when enrolling a child in an early education program. At Kirby, the goal of all teachers and staff is to allow a safe, educational, and fun place for children ages six weeks to five years old to grow, learn and play.
