Whippany Park Senior Named Student of the Month

Benjamin Lawrence is recognized for excelling in academics, athletics and musical programs.

A Whippany Park High School senior was the first to receive the Student of the Month award this year for his committment to a number of activities on the school campus.

Benjamin Lawrence, described as a "dependable, self-disciplined, and a well-rounded student leader" in a statement from the school, received the award in September for his dedication and hard work in all areas of student life.

The high school senior is recognized for excelling in academics, athletics and the musical programs at the school, and is referred to by the school as an "exemplary citizen" who is "hardworking" and "goal-oriented."

In academics, Lawrence, a two-year member of the National Honor Society, has received a number of achievements including making the honor roll and being recognized as a National Merit High Score.

Also nominated for the New Jersey Boys State program, the Whippany Park teen was awarded the University of Rochester Young Leaders Award.

In his four years at Whippany Park, Lawrence has participated in the marching band and performance groups including Jazz Band, Pit Band, and Wind Ensemble. Through his participation, he has been selected to the Junior Region Band, North Jersey Area Band, and Region Band.

In athletics, the dedicated student has also played for the soccer and basketball teams.

In addition to his participation across a number of school programs, Lawrence currently serves as the World Language Tutorial Captain.
