Woman Had Jewelry Stuffed in Bra, Drugs in Car, Cops Say

Parsippany resident claimed the items were from where she worked, police said.

A 21-year-old Parsippany woman was found with jewelry stuffed in her bra after she was arrested last week on drug charges, East Hanover Police said.

Samantha Carty was charged on Aug. 19 with possession of CDS, possesion of paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and overdue inspection.

Police said when Carty was first pulled over for an overdue inspection sticker on Florence Avenue around 8 p.m., officers detected the smell of marijuana from her vehicle. Once the cops got consent to search her vehicle, they found a bag of pot in the center console with smaller empty bags containing pot residue, police said.

Carty was arrested and transported to police headquarters, police said. When officers searched Carty, they found jewelry with price tags on them hidden in her bra and two bottles of new lotion from Victoria's Secret in her purse, police said.

Carty told officers the jewelry was from American Eagle where she worked and her manager told her she could have them because they were damaged, but police could not find any damage to them, police said.

Carty also said the lotion was from her other job at Victoria's Secret, police said. Police said a further investigation is needed to determine if the items were stolen.

Carty was processed for the CDS and paraphernalia, and released pending a future court date, police said.

The alleged stolen jewelry and lotion were entered into evidence for a follow-up investigation, police said.
