Camden County Man Arrested In East Windsor Bank Robberies: Cops

A Sicklerville man has been arrested and charged in connection with 4 bank robberies in East Windsor that took place over the last 4 months.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Camden County man has been arrested and charged in connection with four robberies that took place in East Windsor over the last four months, according to East Windsor police.

The most recent robbery took place on July 10, when East Windsor police were summoned to the Berkshire Bank on Route 571 just before 4:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress.

Arriving officers saw a car speeding off, police said. A chase ensued on Route 130, but police said they had to call it off for safety reasons. East Windsor police notified New Jersey State Police and the FBI.

Eventually, 58-year-old Abdulraheem Shabazz, of Sicklerville, was arrested in Philadelphia by Philadelphia police. Shabazz is being detained in Pennsylvania pending extradition to New Jersey, police said.

Shabazz is being charged with four counts of robbery, four counts of theft and terroristic threats in connection with the following bank robberies:
  • April 19: TD Bank on Route 571;
  • April 30: M&T Bank on Route 130 south;
  • June 28: A second robbery at TD Bank on Route 571; and
  • July 10: Berkshire Bank on Route 571.

Shabazz threatened to harm bank employees during the most recent robbery, but no weapons were actually used during any of these incidents, police said.
