East Windsor Lights Up In Support Of Domestic Violence Victims
At the recently-held 'Communities of Light' event, town officials committed to help victims and families impacted by domestic violence.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ – East Windsor township recently participated in the ‘Communities of Light’ event to raise funds and awareness about domestic violence.
On Dec. 7, Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members Dense Daniels, Marc Lippman, Alan Rosenberg, and John Zoller came together at the municipal building to light candles around the entire perimeter and walkways of the building. They were joined by Police Chief James Geary and officers. All participants were masked and following social distancing guidelines.
Residents and local business owners were encouraged to participate by lighting up their residences in this community-wide event.

“The purpose of ‘Communities of Light’ to serve as a powerful symbol of hope for individuals and families who are impacted by domestic violence and the existence of avenues to get out of these dreadful situations,” said Mironov.
The mayor said that the town’s participation was to demonstrate their support of victims and their families, as well as recognition that domestic violence impacts every community.

“We hope that our participation will help focus public attention on the important subject of domestic violence and to encourage residents to become more aware of support efforts and resources available to victims and families,” she said.
The ‘Communities of Light’ event in East Windsor raised funds for Womanspace, the non-profit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
Womanspace also provides services to prevent abuse, protect families, and other empowerment programs.
