East Windsor Mayor Celebrates Women's History Month Virtually
Mayor Janice Mironov joined elected women officials from the state in a virtual celebration.
EAST WINDSOR, NJ — Mayor Janice Mironov recently joined elected women officials in issuing a proclamation recognizing Women’s History Month.
Over a virtual call, each of the women elected officials spoke about the importance of Women’s History Month and recognized the contribution of women in government and public service. They also shared about their own experiences.
Elected officials included New Jersey Senator Linda Greenstein, Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, Mercer County Commissioners Ann Cannon, Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello, Mercer County Surrogate Diane Gerofksy, Hightstown Council Member Cristina Fowler, Hamilton Township Council Member Nancy Phillips, and Hopewell Township Committee Member Kristin McLaughlin.

In her proclamation, Mironov said the contributions "made by women to our civic, political and cultural life throughout the history of the United States, the State of New Jersey and the Township of East Windsor are noteworthy and have benefited all of us."
The mayor spoke about “the importance of recognizing and applauding the distinguished and valuable contributions made by women today and throughout our history.”

She also noted the contributions of all of the elected women present.
“Women have served and played a valuable role in so many spheres in our communities and history, whether it be in politics, science, the arts, sports, healthcare or education," she said.
"We have a great opportunity in our state and our communities to build upon this record and commit to making a difference in the world and lifting up and encouraging other women so they as well can contribute in their own ways.”
The month of March is celebrated as Women's Histroy Month — commemorating the achievements and vital role of women in American history.
