East Windsor Presents Annual Business Awards

Mayor Janice S. Mironov recently presented the awards to East Windsor Village, Americana Diner and Aurobindo Pharma USA.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three East Windsor businesses were recently honored by the township with the township’s annual Business Awards. Mayor Janice S. Mironov recently presented the awards to East Windsor Village, Americana Diner and Aurobindo Pharma USA. The purpose of the annual awards program is to recognize local businesses that have made special efforts to improve or contribute to the community.

East Windsor Village, known as Target Center, received the 2017 Business Beautification Award. Property Manager Matt Kells accepted the award. This award recognizes businesses that have created an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures.

Located at Princeton Hightstown Road and Lanning Boulevard, East Windsor Village made numerous improvements to its grounds and landscaping including additional plantings, as well as to its facility, adding two major retailers, Kohl’s and Patel Brothers Grocery.

“East Windsor Village because of its prominent location and the popular stores it contains is an important commercial center and the efforts made to maintain and enhance its appearance is a tremendous benefit to our community,” Mironov said.

Americana Diner received the 2017 Community Service Award. Constantine Katsifis, Owner and Chris Kakos, Co-Manager accepted the award. This award recognizes business that contribute or provide service to the community.

Located on Route 130 just north of Princeton Hightstown Road, the Americana Diner is a destination that attracts customers from across the region. The Americana Diner has a long history of giving back to East Windsor. For example, in November the Americana Diner again partnered with Rise: A Community Service Partnership to host its annual Thanksgiving dinner and also sponsored a Thanksgiving luncheon for Township senior citizens. The Americana continually supports numerous community events and is constantly helping local organizations throughout the year.

“Americana Diner is a previous recipient of this service award, demonstrating its longstanding commitment to our community’s needs,” Mironov said. “Americana Diner is always ready to step up and lend its support to the people of East Windsor.”

Aurobindo Pharma USA received the 2017 special Community Enhancement Award. Sanjay Singh, Senior Vice President North America, and Dennis Callahan, Senior Manager of Warehouse Operations accepted the award. This award recognizes businesses that provided an added community value such as extraordinary job creation or positive promotion of East Windsor or sustainability efforts.

Aurobindo Pharma USA, an India-based pharmaceutical company and the fifth largest manufacturer of generic drugs in the United States, this year opened a new 567,000 square foot state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution center on Windsor Center Drive, which will create over 300 new jobs once fully operational.

Aurobindo also selected East Windsor for its North American headquarters, purchasing and moving another 122 administrative employees into the adjacent architecturally renowned Patcentre building. Aurobindo provides another high profile pharma high tech research and development company to promote the Einstein’s Alley vision of the Township. Aurobindo Pharma USA further is advancing East Windsor’s goal to become environmentally sustainable with plans to install solar panels on top of its large new facility to help power its operations.

“Aurobindo is a tremendous boost to our business community, helping East Windsor to realize our goal of being home to a growing number of high-tech and pharmaceutical companies, underscoring the Township’s Einstein’s Alley vision,” Mironov said. “Aurobindo is a tremendous local job generator, as well as furthering a key Township objective of environmental sustainability and partnering with us on several major projects including the resurfacing of Windsor Center Drive.”
