Education for Educators at the Center for Continuing Studies at Mercer
Early Childhood classes begin with the September 5 start of the Montessori Teacher Training Program. (Recent graduates are pictured below.)

The Montessori Teacher Training Institute (MTTI) of Mercer County Community College (MCCC) is currently taking applications for its program which begins on September 5. Mercer’s program is the only community college-hosted program in New Jersey and is American Montessori-affiliated and accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
MCCC's MTTI program is geared toward the working adult with classes scheduled on weeknights and specified Saturdays each month. The first year of the early childhood program is comprised of on-site learning within the Montessori atmosphere of Robbinsville Montessori School. The second year of the program focuses on experiential learning gained through Practicum hours on-site at area Montessori schools. Students are guided every step of the way by MTTI’s instructors who are also experienced Montessori teachers. Many graduates of the program have gone on to open their own schools in the area and abroad.
In addition to the Montessori program, the Center for Continuing Studies at Mercer is offering several classes within the Child Care Development program. Classes can be taken as part of the certificate program or on an individual basis. “Health and Safety with Young Children,” “Guiding Children’s Behavior,” “Physical Development,” “Getting Creative with Art, Music and Drama,” and “Children’s Language and Literature” are all running this fall.
