Hightstown Rams Capture Cheerleading Championship

After winning a regional title, the team is off to Disney World to compete for a national championship.

The Highstown Rams Junior Pee Wee Cheerleaders saw their hard work and determination pay off over the weekend.

The Rams took first place at the Eastern Region Pop Warner Cheer Competition held at the Sun Bank Arena on Saturday, Nov. 12.

They prevailed against 14 other teams from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.

The group of 16 girls in fourth, fifth and sixth grades will head to Florida to compete for the National Championship at Disney World on Dec. 7.

The Highstown Rams cheerleaders began their journey in August, with practices several times per week and by cheering at local football games.

Last month, they earned first place at the Central Jersey Pop Warner Competition, securing an opportunity to compete at the regional competition.

The girls have been fundraising throughout the season and have set up a gofundme page to help them with travel expenses. Contributions can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/hightstown-pw-road-to-disney.

The squad is led by Head Coach Stephanie Oravsky; Assistant Coaches Toni Stanley, Stacey O’Donnell, and Kathryn Cunningham; Junior Coaches Devon Recchia, Samara Lorber, and Nicole Rincon; under the leadership of Cheer Coordinator Michelina Thornton.
