Report: Borough Allots $100K for Borough Hall Evaluation

The resolution was passed in a 5-1 vote.

The Hightstown Borough Council approved a resolution this month that authorizes a special emergency appropriation of $100,000 for the costs sustained from the flood damage at Borough Hall that was caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011, according to the Windsor-Hights Herald.

Police Director James LeTellier said that the money can be recovered by the insurance claim down the road, the report said.

The resolution was passed in a 5-1 vote with Councilwoman Susan Bluth opposing the resolution, according to the report. Bluth said that she did not see a difference between this resolution and the bond ordinance of $4 million for a new Borough Hall that the residents recently petitioned against.

Councilman Rob Thibault said that this resolution does not bypass the petition because the Borough has to settle with the insurance company in order to build a new Borough Hall, whether in the same location or in another location, according to the report.
