Alzheimer's Association Greater NJ Chapter - Volunteer Spotlight
Cliffside Park resident cooking up support to end Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ), the leading volunteer-driven voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research is spotlighting people who are making a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. With more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, and more than 11 million family and friends providing care and support for them, individuals across the country are seeking ways to assist those afflicted with the disease. In New Jersey alone, there are more than 190,000 people living with the disease and 347,000 caregivers. On June 20, many of them will be participating in The Longest Day (TLD). The event is held annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and is a day to raise awareness and funds to help end the disease.
Today we say thank you to Meredith Ansell. "Meredith truly dedicates her life to helping others. She and her family are cooking up an end to Alzheimer’s and I can’t wait to see the finished cookbook!" said, Danielle Buckler, Special Events Coordinator, AAGNJ.
Meredith, a social worker who previously worked in the senior health field, and now works with at risk children, explains, “My mother is living with dementia. My TLD activity this year is creating a book of my mother's recipes in her honor and selling them for a donation. My daughter is involved in the process too - she will be creating the cover artwork. In addition, family members will cook many of my mother's recipes on The Longest Day and post photos to our social media pages. I hope our activity inspires others to support and honor their loved ones living with Alzheimer’s, and other dementia, by hosting a TLD activity and fundraiser.”
