City Looking to Seize Grant Opportunities
Cash-strapped city may hire a grant-writing firm to unearth state and federal grants it hasn't found.

Hoping to realize grant opportunities for various city departments, the Englewood City Council will vote on a resolution to hire an Essex-County based grant-writing firm on June 25.
The council will vote on offering a one-year contract to Millenium Strategies, of Caldwell, worth up to $36,000.
According to City Manager Tim Dacey, the city is "deficient" in realizing grant funding options at the state and federal level. While other communities have seen millions pay for staffing and capital needs, Englewood lags far behind.

There's hope Millenium – if approved – could help identify and write grants to pay off a new ambulance, potentially fund a funding mechanism to pay for a new fire truck, while also beefing up materials needs at the library.
If approved, Dacey said he would provide a weekly update on Millenium's progress.
