Englewood Curbside Tree Planting Starting In October
Residents can contact the City Manager's Office and request for a tree to be planted in front of their houses.
ENGLEWOOD, NJ — The city of Englewood will be planting curbside trees from October to December, at resident's requests, the City Manager's Office announced.
Trees will be planted in the city's right-of-way, which includes an area approximately 4 feet from the curb. The exact location will depend on many factors, including where the overhead wires and underground utilities, driveways, and other trees are.
Residents are asked to leave all tags and stakes attached. They will be removed after the trees have taken root — approximately a year later. They should also wait two to three years before planting any low-growing flowers in the trees' mulch area, so they have time to become established.

Gas and water lines will be marked and the marking should be left alone until planting.
According to the City Manager, a lot of attention went into planning so that the new trees won't interfere with sidewalks and utility lines in the future.

City officials say that a healthy mature tree can prevent up to 40 percent of rain from reaching the ground and the roots can observe up to 400 gallons of water in an hour, contributing to less flooding, as well as cleaner air and soil.
