Dwight-Englewood Benefactor Donald G. Drapkin Dies In Colo. Ski Accident: Reports
Drapkin fell ill after sustaining a head injury while skiing and died Monday.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ - Donald G Drapkin, a $1 million benefactor of Dwight-Englewood School, and the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, died Monday after suffering a head injury while skiing in Colorado, according to published reports.
Drapkin’s partner Sue Hostetler said the 67-year-old Drapkin received a “seemingly minor injury” when he fell skiing with his son; he later fell down ”from a standing position,” hit his head, and became dizzy and nauseous, The Aspen Times reported. He was airlifted to a Denver hospital where he was operated on to relieve pressure on his brain, according to the report.
Drapkin was a benefactor of Dwight-Englewood School and reportedly gave $1 million to the institution, the report said. He was also a benefactor of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, The Record reported.

A Bloomberg Business profile of Drapkin listed him as a chairman, founder, and principal partner at Casablanca Capital LP, a New York-based hedge fund.
Drapkin is survived by his wife, Bernice Drapkin of Alpine; children, Amanda, Nicole, Matthew, David, and Dana, and his companion, Sue Hostetler, The Record reported. Another son, Dustin, died in 2010 at the age of 23.
