Englewood Athlete Competing In Special Olympics Winter Games

More than 250 athletes will compete Monday and Tuesday at Mountain Creek in Vernon.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A city athlete will compete at the Special Olympics New Jersey Winter Games Monday and Tuesday.

Martina Argueta will compete in speed skating. Argueta is the only Paramus athlete competing at the games.

Special Olympics New Jersey provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in 24 Olympic-type sports for more than 25,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The events at this year's Special Olympics are: Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and speed skating. The games are held at Mountain Creek in Vernon, except for speed skating, which is held in Stockholm.
