Englewood Cliffs Native Advances To Second Round Of Wimbledon

Christina McHale had advanced to the second round at Wimbledon.

McHale, an Englewood Cliffs native, is competing in her fifth Wimbledon tournament, NorthJersey.com reported.

McHale defeated Johanna Larsson of Sweden, 6-3, 6-2 Tuesday.

McHale is ranked No. 64 in the world. She advanced to the second round in 2011, her first in the tournament, and 2013, The Record reported. She reached the third round in 2012 and lost in the first round last year.

McHale posted a photo of herself with her sister, Lauren, on Twitter shortly after winning the match, saying: “Big smiles with my sis after the match! So happy to be through to the second round.”
