Wildes Declared Winner In Englewood Democratic Mayoral Primary

Breaking: Ex-Mayor Michael Wildes soundly defeated challenger Philip Meisner.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Following a competitive primary race, Michael Wildes secured the Democratic nomination for mayor Tuesday night.

Wildes received 2,675 votes to Philip Meisner's 1,504. Those vote totals do not include mail-in or provisional ballots.

Wildes is manager partner of Wildes and Weinberg, an immigration law firm. Previously, he was a federal prosecutor and auxiliary New York City Police officer. He has lived in Englewood for more than 25 years with his wife Amy and their four children. He ran on the Real Englewood Democrat ticket. Wildes was elected mayor and to the City Council for two terms each.

Meisner is the city's Democratic party's chairman and an ally of three-term mayor Frank Huttle III, who is not seeking a fourth term. Meisner received the party's endorsement and appeared on the first column along with the other federal- and county-level candidates with the Democratic Party.

The general election is Nov. 6. The winner will begin his term in January 2019.
