Englewood Student Picked for NJ All-State Academic Team
The Bergen Community College student racked up the second academic recognition this year, after being awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — An Englewood Student was selected for a spot on the 2021 New Jersey All-State Academic Team, a list organized by the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, according to Bergen Community College.
Genesis Capellan is a last-year student at Bergen Community College, majoring in professional studies, involved in several organizations, including as a college ambassador for the Violence Intervention Prevention Center.
She racked up the second academic recognition this year, after being awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

Also joining the Jersey All-State Academic Team from Bergen Community College is Crystal Yoo, of Hackensack. Originally from Canada, the chemistry student is this year's valedictorian and has previously worked as a research assistant at Seoul National University Hospital in Korea. She plans to move to a four-year college to prepare for medical school.
“We are extremely honored and proud of our Genesis’ and Crystal’s accomplishments, especially during this challenging time,” faculty advisers Lisa Mayer and Kelly Keane said in a joint statement. “Their commitment and dedication to their school, community and each other is inspiring.
