Former Englewood Mayor Paul Fader Dies

Fader was mayor from 1998 to 2003.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Paul Fader, a talented attorney and former mayor of Englewood, died Monday.

Fader was mayor of Englewood from 1998 to 2003, NorthJersey.com reported. He was 58.

Bergen County director of communications Alicia D'Alessandro, posted to her Twitter page that Fader was "a brilliant lawyer and a great human being."

Prior to joining Florio, Perrucci, Steinhardt & Fader he was chief counsel to New Jersey Governors Richard J. Codey and James E. McGreevey.

During his tenure as mayor, Fader spearheaded the redevelopment of the city's Downtown Business District, which earned the city the New Jersey Smart Growth Award for Downtown Redevelopment. New Jersey Monthly magazine named Englewood the most livable city in 2001.

The New Jersey Law Journal ranked Fader among the top lawyer-lobbyists in the state. He was general counsel to the Bergen County Utilities Authority and the Bergen County Improvement Authority.

Fader and his wife Jill founded the Walk for Awareness: Our Fight Against Breast Cancer in 1998. The walk has raised more than $1.5 million for the Leslie Simon Breast Care Center at Englewood Hospital.

He and his wife have four children: Jack, Lucas, Morgan and Sydney.
