LG to Present Controversial Plans to Freeholder Board

Meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

LG Electronics will be making a presentation to the Bergen County Freeholders on its controversial corporate headquarters office tower project on Wednesday.

Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan has come out in support of the plans submitted by the Korean electronics giant, though the freeholder board has been mum.

LG argues that an new eight-story office tower in Englewood Cliffs would bring hundreds of jobs and economic vitality to the area. Detractors from both sides of the Hudson contend the new corporate headquarters would spoil views of the pristine Palisades, and have pushed for a low-res design.

Court mediation between LG and critics fizzled in June, likely setting the stage for lawsuits.

News of LG's presentation to the freeholder board was first reported by northjersey.com.
