Man Stabbed Sunday Evening After 'Chaotic' Shootings In Englewood

Despite two shootings happening that evening, no gunfire victims were found. The man who was stabbed also faces domestic violence charges.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — There were two shootings in Englewood Sunday evening, but no gunfire victims, according to police. Instead, a man was found stabbed at one of the scenes, by the Rock Creek housing complex.

Police were responding to a second shooting that Sunday evening, in the complex on the east side of the city, at around 9:30 p.m.

The man was heavily bleeding from a cut with a knife as a result of a domestic dispute, police said. He was taken to Hackensack Hospital by ambulance.

After being treated for his injuries, he was released back to the custody of the Englewood Police Department and detectives charged the man with a number of domestic violence-related charges.

Police responded to another shooting earlier in the evening, at around 7:30 p.m., by Park Avenue, after an officer heard gunshots and multiple 911 calls came in.

Units arrived to find a "chaotic scene," with "several large groups of individuals, which included young children, who were both fleeing and congregating in the area."

They put out a mutual aid request and got assistance from seven other surrounding agencies.

With help from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, police determined the shooting happened on Fourth Street, just south of the entrance to the Park View Apartments complex.

As of Monday afternoon, they had not found that anyone had been injured from the gunfire.

Police are asking the public for help with any information and offering a reward of $1,000 cash for tips that significantly assist detectives. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers online or by phone, at 844-466-6789.
