Outreach Program Takes In 8 Homeless People In Englewood

The police department and other organizations were able to take some of them to the hospital and to provide them with permanent housing.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — The Englewood Police department in a joint effort with various social service agencies reached out to several individuals living in the streets of Englewood.

A team of representatives from different organizations contacted eight homeless individuals offering them support. Four of them were taken to the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, for emergency medical care and addiction services.

The other two, one of which was a veteran, were provided housing and taken to their new homes.

Of the four people taken two the hospital, two were also set up with a permanent housing plan, as members of the team were familiar with them and were able to arrange it ahead of time. Plans for the other two are still being finalized by the Housing, Health & Human Services Center.
