OwnBackup Brings 160 Jobs To Englewood Cliffs

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — The borough's economy is 160 jobs stronger after OwnBackup, one of New Jersey's fastest growing tech companies, opened on Sunday.

OwnBackup is a data protection business specializing in cloud-based systems to more than 1,400 business worldwide. It has doubled its staff every year since 2016, and was named one of Inc.'s fastest-growing private companies. It will continue to expand in the coming months and hiring more talent for various roles. It also has businesses in Israel and London.

The new 30,000-square-foot headquarters is designed with a collaborative, open-office layout that is centered around an auditorium for community events. Employees enjoy such perks as a game room and arcade, spa-like lounge with massage chairs, a "pub" area with beer taps, a full-service kitchen, and a free shuttle to and from Manhattan.

Mayor Mario Kranjac said at the grand opening ceremony Sunday he was "delighted" to welcome OwnBackup to Englewood Cliffs.

"Businesses like OwnBackup are the backbone of America, and they drive our technology-based economy forward," Kranjac said.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority launched the Choose: New Jersey initiative, which is designed to encourage venture capital investment in Jersey-based companies and to provide rent help to startups, including those in Englewood Cliffs.

"Englewood Cliffs has emerged as a place where start-ups, development stage companies, and Fortune 500 companies can thrive, grow, and prosper," Kranjac said.
