Palisades Virtuosi Holds Annual Holiday Gala Concert at Englewood's First Presbyterian Church Dec. 6

Palisades Virtuosi is presenting its sixth Annual Holiday Gala Concert at the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30pm. This popular trio will perform holiday favorites with a guest violinist, organist, and brass group, and will be honoring a talented Bergen County student musician.

The Palisades Virtuosi is a unique musical group who commissions works from both established and young composers in order to present audiences with original, exciting contemporary music. The trio, made up of flutist Margaret Swinchoski (Bogota), clarinetist Donald Mokrynski (Cresskill), and pianist Ron Levy (Teaneck), has been performing together for over eleven years in venues all over the United States and Canada.

“We love performing our annual holiday concert, each year with different guest artists who bring a new dynamic to the mix,” said Swinchoski.

The soloist this year, Chinese Violinist, Xiao Wang, has performed with the America String Quartet, Mendelssohn String Quartet, and New York Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as playing internationally in Budapest, Leipzig, and Beijing. David Macfarlane, (Bogota) organist & music director of the First Presbyterian Church will capture the spirit of the holidays playing the church’s historic pipe organ. Montclair State University’s Brass Force Five with trumpets, French horn, and trombones will be a lively addition to the concert.

Palisades Virtuosi, in keeping with their mission to encourage young musicians, will be honoring a student from Paramus High School. The name of the winner of the “2014 Young Artist Recognition Award”, given to a Bergen County high school senior who exemplifies excellence in both music and leadership qualities, will be announced at the concert.

All are welcome to hear the sounds of the season at First Presbyterian Church, 150 East Palisade Avenue in Englewood. The church is beautifully decorated for the holidays and its marvelous acoustics make listening to music especially pleasurable. A delicious post concert/meet the artists reception follows.
