12 Bergen County Adoptions Finalized As Part Of National Celebration

Twelve adoptions were finalized at the Bergen County courthouse Friday morning in celebration of National Adoption Day.

Family Division Presiding Judge Peter J. Melchionne finalized the adoptions and a celebratory breakfast was held afterward. The children received gifts and family photos were taken.

“Adoption Day is always one of the happiest and most rewarding days of the year for our judges, staff, adopting families, and especially the children,” Melchionne said.

National Adoption Day is an annual event where courts and communities throughout the country together to finalize thousands of adoptions and celebrate families who choose to adopt.

Assignment Judge Bonnie J. Mizdol has participated in National Adoption Day for eight years. The Bergen County Vicinage, the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and the Bergen County Surrogate’s Office.
