Fair Lawn Man Named Foundation Chair at Bergen Regional Medical Center

John Cosgrove has volunteered for a wide variety of Fair Lawn organizations

The Foundation at Bergen Regional Medical Center announced the election of lifelong Fair Lawn resident John Cosgrove as its chairman. Cosgrove has served as a trustee of the foundation, the fundraising arm of BRMC, since 2009.

“John Cosgrove’s election as Chairman of the Foundation underscores the leadership skills and value he has brought to the hospital, and most importantly the patients, residents and community we serve,” BRMC President Joseph Orlando said in a statement. “The economic recession has unfortunately grown the population of uninsured and underinsured; and John adeptly understands the vital role both the Foundation and hospital play in safeguarding the health and well-being of our neighbors.”

Cosgrove is the founder and president of Atlantic Handling Systems, a materials handling solution provider. He is an active community volunteer, having served as a coach for baseball, street hockey, softball and lacrosse. He is also the founder and former president of both the Fair Lawn Lacrosse Club and the Fair Lawn Touchdown Club.

Cosgrove has also held every office in the and was awarded the Fair Lawn Fire Department Valor Award, Citation Star for Bravery and the VFW Valor Award in 1991 for his actions in the rescue of an unconscious man from a burning house fire.

In addition to serving on the board of the Foundation at Paramus-based BRMC, Cosgrove has served on the board of directors for the Parents Committee for Athletics (President 2002-2008); Fair Lawn Hall of Fame; St. Catharine’s Fathers Guild; Fair Lawn Old Timers; Fair Lawn Football Association; Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (President 2007); Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce; and the .
