Fair Lawn Opens Cooling Centers Amid Extreme Heat
The borough announced the locations and times for two cooling centers, which will be open Monday through Sunday this week.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — As the state potentially faces days of extreme heat and rising humidity, Fair Lawn has announced the opening of two cooling centers in the borough.
With temperatures likely to climb toward 100 degrees, borough officials announced that cooling centers will be at the Fair Lawn Library and Memorial Pool from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
A heat advisory has been issued across the state from Monday at noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday as heat index values (apparent temperature) up to 104 degrees are expected.

The heat and humidity may last into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The service urges New Jerseyans to limit time spent outside as hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illnesses to occur. Read more: NJ Heat Wave: Extreme Temperatures, Thunderstorms In Forecast
