Fair Lawn Police Welcome New Officer, Chaplain: PHOTOS

Fair Lawn Police swore in a new officer and chaplain during a ceremony held in the borough's council chambers Tuesday.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — The Fair Lawn Police Department welcomed a new officer and chaplain during a Tuesday ceremony.

Officer Gilot Castor and Rabbi Andrew Schultz were sworn in during the ceremony in the Fair Lawn council chambers.

Castor, 29, has served with the Paterson Police Department since 2015. A 2011 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, he is currently studying at Passaic County Community College.

He will be assigned to the patrol division after his department familiarization training is complete, the department said.

With Castor’s hiring, Fair Lawn Police currently staff 60 sworn officers.

Schultz, 41, is a resident of Fair Lawn. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in public administration from Southern Connecticut State University.

Schultz is currently the executive director for the Community Alliance for Jewish Cemeteries.

He becomes the second volunteer police chaplain and will work alongside Pastor David Boone, the department said.
