MAHWAH, NJ – A fundraiser effort is underway for the family of a Mahwah father.
Ian David Sklar died on Nov. 11 at the age of 44, leaving behind a wife, Mindy, and two children, Brandon and Reese.
He is being remember as “a valued and loved coach, and member of the community,” as well as for “his quick wit, infectious laugh, and his kind and compassionate spirit,” according to his obituary.

As of Saturday afternoon, $79,800 has been raised through a GoFundMe campaign for his children, whom, the effort’s organizers said “we adore and will wrap our arms around through this difficult time.”

“Ian dedicated his life to his family and was such a big part of the community,” the campaign organizers said. “He coached several sports throughout the years. He was loved by all and took every kid as his own.”
According to his obituary, he was born in Suffern, NY, graduated from Clarkstown South High School and earned a bachelor’s degree at UMass Amherst.
