FAIR LAWN, NJ — Memorial Middle School will institute a two-week period of remote learning after four positive coronavirus tests within the last week, Superintendent Nicholas Norcia said Monday.

The Fair Lawn Health Department recommended that the school implement remote learning after three students and one staff member tested positive since last week, Norcia added.

Remote learning will last from Tuesday to April 12, a period of 14 days. That return will come after the district's spring recess, Norcia said.

Cleaning and disinfecting work has begun, and students and teachers deemed to be close contacts will be notified by the end of Tuesday.

"We wish we could share more details regarding every specific case, respecting the confidentiality of members of our learning community is both a requirement and a fundamental right," Norcia said.
