FAIR LAWN, NJ — Martin Luter King, Jr. Day was Monday, but in Fair Lawn, community groups will honor his legacy of service throughout the week.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer joined the Fair Lawn Community Relations Advisory Committee's MLK Week of Service effort Monday by donating cleaning supplies to the Fair Lawn Food Pantry.

During the week, community groups will focus their giving and assistance efforts on the food pantry, according to the community relations committee.

"Many of our seniors rely on the food pantry as a safe place to get their groceries during this pandemic. Due to store purchase limits, it has been difficult for the Food Pantry to procure enough cleaning supplies/paper goods for our community," committee officials wrote on social media.

For Gottheimer, the day was about honoring King, but also about giving aid to a Fair Lawn staple.
