Saddle Brook Girl Scouts Make Donation to Children's Hospital

Scouts from Troop 655 earned their Silver Award after organizing the effort to donate more than 150 items for the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital in Hackensack.

Three Girl Scouts from Troop 655 in Saddle Brook recently earned their Silver Award, the second highest in the organization, for a project which donated more than 150 toys and other items to the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital in Hackensack.

Jessica Brown, Kaitlyn Castoro and Mackenzie Steele collected toys, coloring books, crayons, journals, puzzles, arts and craft sets, books, games and other items for patients ranging from newborns to 22-year-olds, according to Troop Leader Vicki Brown.

Each of the three scouts put in more than 50 hours into the project, according to Brown. They are already planning another Gold Award project, the highest given by the Girl Scouts.
