2 Asian Women Harassed, Fort Lee Man Charged: Police

He was captured on surveillance from a local business on one of two separate incidents with two different women, according to police.

FORT LEE, NJ — A Fort Lee man was arrested Thursday and charged with harassing two Asian women, according to Fort Lee Police.

The man, Michael Torres, was captured on surveillance from a local business on one of two separate bias-related incidents with two different women, police said. One happened on May 5 and the other May 27.

The other woman was able to take a picture of the same man. Both gave police a similar physical description of the man who harassed them.

Police investigated and concluded that Torres exhibited a pattern of harassing Asian women all the way back to 2019 in Fort Lee, police said.

Torres was charged with two counts of harassment and two counts of bias intimidation and is currently being detained at Bergen County Jail, pending a court hearing.
