Callahan's, A Classic Bergen Hot Dog Joint, Closes Unexpectedly
The restaurant with the deep-fried hot dogs shuts its doors 10 months after it reopened.

FORT LEE, NJ — An iconic business with its crunchy, deep-fried hot dogs has shut its doors — again.
Callahan's Hot Dog Emporium closed rather unexpectedly this past weekend.
Owner Lenny Castrianni could not be reached for comment. His father Leonard founded the original business, which shut down in 2006. Castrianni reopened the business in June 2016, less than 10 months ago.

Leonard Castrianni's grandson Dan DeMiglio opened a Callahan's in Norwood, but that business was not affiliated in any way with the Fort Lee location.

Castrianni said people were happy that the business came back to Fort Lee, saying they told him, "Thank you for bringing back the memories that we've always cherished."
The Norwood store and two food trucks are the only businesses that bear the Callahan's name now.
DeMiglio will have free hot dogs from 4 to 8 p.m. to celebrate his restaurant's second anniversary and the fact that his father is cancer-free for one year, NorthJersey.com reported.
