Fort Lee Girls Varsity Tennis - A Bright Outlook

Overview: Fort Lee High School Girls Varsity Tennis 2017

The Fort Lee Girls Varsity Tennis Team season is in full swing. In match play, the team is 2-2 and on Saturday, September 9, 2017, the Fort Lee Seven tied for first place at the Hackensack Comets Invitational Tournament and walked away with the 2nd Place Trophy as a result of the tie-breaker. All the girls played exceptionally well, making the coaches extremely proud.

Varsity Coach Phil Zappel, the 2017 New Jersey State Boys Tennis Coach of the Year, is now working hard to build the Girls Team into a competitive squad, hopefully to be ranked in the County in 2017 and 2018. With the triad of Junior co-captains, Perry Vikatos, Hwan Lee, and Ashley Kim, the team starts with a strong foundation. This year, three very talented freshmen have joined the team, two of whom just joined this week, boding very well for the future of Fort Lee Girls Varsity Tennis for the next few years.

For the School Year 2016-2017, Fort Lee Varsity Sports achieved excellence in many sports, from Boys Soccer to Boys Tennis. Sung Hawng of Fort Lee won the Bergen County Golf Championship. The Girls Varsity Soccer Team is having an outstanding year in 2017. This year, we are hopeful that the Girl’s Varsity Tennis Team will join the upper echelon of teams in Bergen County. Under the tutelage of Coach Zappel, the team has every reason to be optimistic.
