Fort Lee Police Officer David Kurz Dies

Kurz died Tuesday. The cause of death was not immediately known.

FORT LEE, NJ — Borough first-responders are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Officer David Kurz died Tuesday, borough staff confirmed.

Capt. Patrick Kissane, Chief Keith Bendul and Mayor Mark Sokolich could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday afternoon. The cause of Kurz's death was not immediately released.

Christopher James Cooper said in a Facebook post that Kurz was "an amazing man."

"Saved my life in more ways than one. Rest in power Dave," Cooper's post said. "I never got the chance to truly say thank you for everything you did for me."

The Fire Department, Ambulance Corps and some of the Fire Department companies also posted notes of condolence and sympathy regarding Kurz's death on Facebook.

Palisades Fire Co. No. 4 sent their "condolences to the brothers and sisters of the Fort Lee Police Department on the passing of Officer Dave Kurz. Our thoughts and prayers and with all of you and the family."

Company No. 2 said their members' "thoughts and prayers are with all of you and the Kurz family."
