Fort Lee Student Receives National Merit Scholarship
The Dwight-Englewood student is possibly going into aerospace engineering as a career.
FORT LEE, NJ — A borough student has received a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced Tuesday.
Linda Chen is a student at Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood. She received the National Merit Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship. Chen wants to go into aerospace engineering as a possible career field.
The Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship is awarded to students from Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania through a trust. It is one of 1,000 scholarships awarded to National Merit Scholarship finalists that are financed by 160 companies, businesses, and foundations. Winners are selected based on the academic achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college.

Students are entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT.
